XXL FUEL TANK PLACEMENT (subtitled) - BURTON 2CV PARTS

HOW TO MOUNT YOUR XXL FUEL TANK ON YOUR 2CV.

In this video we will show you how to mount your XXL fuel tank on your 2CV.

Step: 1
First empty your fuel tank or make sure it is almost empty
when changing to the new tank.

Step: 2
A syphon hose can be a handy tool for draining the tank.

Step: 3
Unscrew the hose clamps and pull the filler neck from the tank.

Step: 4
Unbolt the 4 m7 bolts that hold the fuel tank.

Step: 5
Support the tank when removing the last bolt, depending on the
remaining fuel it can be heavy.

Step: 6
Pull the rubber fuel line of the top of the fuel tank and
disconnect the fuel level sender wire.
The tank can now be removed.

Step: 7
With the tanks next to each other you can realy see
the size difference.

Step: 8
Remove the 3 screws from the old tank and remove the fuel
level sender. This step can be skipped when replacing the fuel
level sender.

Step: 9
Replace the fuel level sender gasket a1.1144 when needed.
A complete fuel sender can be ordered
under article number a1.1145

Step: 10
Install the sender with the supplied m4 screws.

Step: 11
The m7x50 bolts are used in the front of the fuel tank.
First goes the spring washer, then the steel oval ring and after
this the plastic oval ring.

Step: 12
Between the tank and the rear axle is the thick
plastic ring installed.

Step: 13
Place the fuel tank with the filler neck over the chassis.

Step: 14
Reconnect the fuel sender wire and the fuel hose.

Step: 15
Use a m7x45 bolt with a spring washer, metal oval ring and
plastic oval ring for installing the side mounting point.

Step: 16
The plastic square washer is installed between the tank and
the chassis. Tip: do not forget the ground wire like we did…

Step: 17
Repeat this process on the right side.

Step: 18
Install the bolts on the front of the fuel tank
like shown previously.

Step: 19
Install the rear support bracket. the order of installation is
as following: first the m7x45 bolt with washer,
through the bracket,

Step: 20
Then the oval plastic washer and through the fuel tank
mounting hole.

Step: 21
Above the tank there is an oval plastic washer,
oval metal washer, small ring and a locknut.

Step: 22
The sides of the support bracket must be installed with a m7x20
bolt and the special shaped washer.

Step: 23
Reinstall the fillerneck and tighten the 2 hose clamps.

Step: 24
After reconnecting the fuel filler neck the 8 m7
bolts can be tightened.
