A famous feature of the San Francisco Bay skyline is in danger! The Alcatraz Lighthouse Preservation Project, an initiative of the US Lighthouse Society, the NPS and USCG, has a compelling plan to restore the iconic tower, offer public access to the Lantern Room with spectacular 360 - degree views of the whole San Francisco Bay Area, and an observation deck
for educational programs.
Unlike many of San Francisco’s famous landmarks (Coit Tower, Golden Gate Bridge, Palace of Fine Arts), the Alcatraz Lighthouse has no dedicated SF advocate. This active navigational aid is in need of repair. If we don't act now, we could lose this potential tourist magnet. The budget is $3.5 million. Come learn how you can help!
