10 Won Coins of South Korea | PCGS Coin

The 10 Won coin of South Korea from 2005 and 2012. PCGS issued these as Sample Slabs at Numismata Berlin 2015, which was held in October 2015. Both these 10 Won coins are different types.

The 2005 10 Won coin type is made of Brass weighing 4.06 gms with 22.86 mm diameter and was first issued in 1983 minted till 2006. The obverse has the Dabotap Pagoda, located in Gyeongju, it is one of the national treasures dividing the value in Hangul on both sides. The value and "Bank of Korea" in Hangul at the reverse. KM-33.2 is the reference of the coin as per Standard catalogue of World coins. The KM-33.2 has the thicker value digits compared to KM-33.1 through the DaeGwangSa catalog and most Korean numismatists don't distinguish a separate variety.

The 2012 10 Won coin is a Copper clad Aluminum coin issued from 2006 to date, weighing 1.22 gms with 18 mm diameter replacing the brass coins (KM-33). The obverse has the Dabotap Pagoda, located in Gyeongju, it is one of the national treasures dividing the value in Hangul on both sides. The value and "Bank of Korea" in Hangul at the reverse.
