Atypical lobular hyperplasia (ALH) and lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS) are both overgrowths of abnormal-looking cells in one or more lobules of the milk-producing sacs of the breast. There are fewer abnormal-looking cells in ALH, which is less than in LCIS. LCIS and ALH are both non-cancerous breast disorders associated with an increased risk of invasive breast cancer later in life.
