Dynamic Range in Photography Explained

Simply put, dynamic range is the difference between an image's brightest highlights and darkest shadows. A camera with a more dynamic range can capture a greater difference between highlights and shadows in one image and still recover the brightest and darkest spots in post-processing.

Since so much of landscape photography happens at sunset or sunrise, when the amount of ambient light is low, you will experience scenes with very dark foregrounds and very bright highlights.
