In a forgotten age, a small Stone Age tribe lives on the edge of a vast, poisonous swamp. They fear it as a place of bad spirits, where the ground can swallow you whole and the water eats flesh.

Around the fire, elders tell of a legendary monster:
a many-headed serpent that rises from the black water,
breathing foul mist and crushing anything that comes too close.

When the herds move away and the forest runs empty, the tribe is forced to hunt closer to the swamp. A group of hunters, including a young warrior eager to prove himself, cross the taboo line and enter the Black Swamp for the first time.

Inside the mist, they find giant tracks, half-sunken ruins… and finally, the truth of the legend.

The Hydra of the Black Swamp is real:
a colossal multi-headed serpent, each head snapping and hissing, its coils thick as fallen trees.

The hunters are chased through rotting trees and sinking ground, and a sinkhole collapses beneath them, dropping them into an underground cave flooded with dark water and ancient bones.

There, as the Hydra tries to tear them apart, another monster appears:
a monstrous crocodile, a titan of the swamp, which attacks the Hydra in a violent clash of teeth and coils.

The two beasts fight for dominance, giving the humans a narrow path to escape back to the surface.

By the end of the story, the tribe changes its cave paintings:
the Hydra is still a nightmare that rules the swamp,
but the people now know that in the world of monsters,
even a hunter can become prey… and sometimes, one monster saves you from another.
