Involving patients and members of the public in health research helps to ensure the research benefits those who most need it. This film is an edited version of an in-person session held in September 2023 where researchers from Oxford Biomedical Research Centre, University of Oxford and patient and public contributors described the benefits of involving patients and members of the public in research.
In this session we discussed:
00:00 -Talks Trialblazers: a project putting patients in the driving seat of clinical trials.
13:11 - Diversity in Research a participatory case study to understand and optimise the impact of a diverse public involvement group in biomedical research.
28:01 - What is public and community engagement in the context of global health research? Overview and examples from OUCRU in Vietnam [lhttps://www.oucru.org/], KEMRI-Wellcome in Kenya [https://kemri-wellcome.org/] and Oxford Health Systems Collaborative [https://www.cghr.ox.ac.uk/research/he...].
41:15 - Why and how to evaluate public and community engagement, with examples of a range of evaluation practice and evidence.
