Symptoms of an acoustic neuroma can be associated with the size of the tumor, but this is not always consistent. Many patients experience few symptoms, even with the presence of a large tumor.
The most common symptoms of an acoustic neuroma are hearing loss in one ear and a sensation of fullness often associated with tinnitus, or head noise.
John Oghalai, MD, a professor and the chair of the USC Caruso Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, also a neurotologist and skull base surgeon, answers frequently asked questions about acoustic neuroma:
• What Are the Symptoms of an Acoustic Neuroma?
• Does an Acoustic Neuroma Cause Pain?
• How Is an Acoustic Neuroma Diagnosed?
• How Fast Do Acoustic Neuromas Grow and Do They Spread?
