This is the final episode of the truck engine rebuild. Here, I am putting the engine back in the truck and making it run for the first time. Looking back on it, I notice that the engine would not start right up as I had to crank it quite a while and it was cranky on the first start. Later I discovered that some of the fuel injectors were clogged, and the EGR was not working right. I ended up replacing the EGR, the throttle position sensor and the Idle Air Controller and the injectors. After which, starting is no problem at all. The mass airflow sensor was also cleaned.
For those paying attention, you will notice that on day 30 I say the 'last' day of the project. But of course- something always goes wrong. As I was going through all my parts, I discover the brand new rear engine seal! So on the 'last' day, I had to remove the transmission and flywheel and put the rear seal in place! What a day. Whether you are inexperienced, or very experienced, these things can happen. At least catch them before you start the engine for the first time. It was my last procedural check that caught it. So, the last day took 2 days.
