Peace and Love
Here is the last of the Spring of ’67 back-to-back (minus May 20) episodes, taking us all the way to the Monterey Pop Festival, going on now, and the official start of The Summer of Love.
There were some changes made to the Festival from the time this was taped to the time it aired. Johnny Rivers performed on Friday, not Sunday and as far I as I can find, The Impressions and Dionne Warwick did not perform.
Don and the Goodtimes did come back again on November 4, 1967 – the week before the “color episode” with Van Morrison.
The Bond film “You Only Live Twice” premiered 4 days ago in the U.S. on June 13.
I would love to know where Mike Condin is today and if he ever took that “trip”.
On the Billboard Hot 100 today
1) Groovin’ – The Young Rascals
2) RESPECT – Aretha Franklin
3) She’d Rather Be With Me – The Turtles
4) Release Me – Engelbert Humperdinck
5) Somebody To Love – Jefferson Airplane
20) San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair) – Scott McKenzie (required by law to be used in any montage about Haight Ashbury, Monterey, and/or the Summer of Love)
24) Tracks Of My Tears – Johnny Rivers
27) Ain’t No Mountain High Enough – Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
I hope you’ve enjoyed watching this series of episodes as much I’ve enjoyed sharing and watching them too. I’ll post some more colorized clips and episodes from different years soon.
Thank you for watching!
