Let's take a look at Android Studio and I'll talk through the various windows that are available to us. Right now, I have increased the font size for the Editor so that things are showing up a little easier to read on the screen, but just be aware that when you run this on your own machine, the font size will not be this large. So if I take a look over here on the left, I'm presented with what is called the Project window. If I select it, I can hide and I select it again, and I can show it. This represents all of the source files for your project. Note over here we have what is called a Filter. If I select that and I go to Project, you'll note that here I'm presented with a folder structure. This actually represents what is on your machine, on your hard drive. The files are in a specific location and as you click through you can identify where all these different files are. And, what's happening is, this is the folder structure as it represents on your machine. Well, when you're working with Android files there's a number of files that you will access and it's easier if you use a filter that's called Android. If I select the Android filter, notice that it put things in a different order and it's easier to get to. I'm at this root app folder and then here within the java folder, and within my program folder here. This package represents MainActivity, and this happens to be MainActivity.kt which is the Cartland file. This is the code behind that represents our app. The file for activity_main.xml, this represents the visual elements of it and we'll talk about this in the next video. For now, just know that in our Project window, you can filter in order to see the more common files that you can access. There are other files, if you see a Resource Manager, other windows, I can hide and show that. There's a number of things as you go down the line on this side. We won't go into a lot of details on these but the things that we are going to use will be related to the ones on the bottom. We have a Build screen and this shows you when you've run the app, you'll have different Build tasks. If there were any errors, they would show up here.
