Not too many people were speed-solving the cube in 1999. Somehow a producer from this show found my email address, and asked me on a Thursday if I was in London, and if I could be on the show with Erno Rubik the next Tuesday. I replied (falsely), "yes, I'm in London, and I'd love to be on the show." Then I grabbed my passport, booked a flight, and showed up at their studio in London. After the show, Rubik's public relations company invited me to tour the British media with him for the rest of the week. It was an honor to travel with Rubik himself. He solved my cube.
