My BRITISH mother in law’s ENGLISH BREAD SAUCE: minimal ingredient and clean HOLIDAY

My British mother in law gave me the best bread sauce recipe all the way from England. It’s a clean and minimal recipe I’m happy to feed my kids. It was easy and fun to make. A cherished holiday sauce that dates all the way back to Medieval times. It’s fabulous over roasted meats or even dazzle up a store bought rotisserie chicken with it.
You need:
2.5 cups of milk
3.5 tbs butter
1 chopped onion
6 cloves
2 garlic cloves
3 thyme sprigs
1/2 cup bread crumbs
4 tbs cream
How to:
Simmer the milk, butter, onion, cloves, garlic in pan for 20 minutes. Strain out the liquid and return to pan. Add breadcrumbs and cream, simmer for 3-4 minutes. Add nutmeg, season and serve. Can be made up to 3 days in advance and heated up on the job before serving.
