I started my morning camping in a quiet village in Meghalaya. After picking up my power bank, I packed my tent and trekked toward the famous Nongriat Village – home to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge.
On the way, I stopped at a stunning viewpoint above the village and spent some peaceful time there. But when I finally decided to trek down the endless steps to Nongriat, I faced a big shock – it was Sunday, and the entire village was closed!
With nowhere to stay, I tried camping at the village school since locals don’t allow camping near their homes. But things didn’t go as planned – a villager came and told me camping wasn’t allowed, and I might have to pay a fine! In the end, I was taken to a small homestay where I finally spent the night.
This vlog is about the raw challenges of solo backpacking and camping in Meghalaya, unexpected village rules, and the beauty you find even when plans fail.
