In this episode we read an account written by George Harman Bayles, and published in the October 1948 issue of The Register of the Kentucky Historical Society, titled: "Tecumseh and the Bayless Family Tradition." This tradition holds that Mary Bayles, who was captured by Shawnee Indians around 1773, married one of the Shawnee men, and their child was Tecumseh. This tells an account of Tecumseh's life that is considered unworthy by modern historians. Be sure to comment to share your thoughts about Tecumseh's parentage.
This episode also discusses the Ice family, of Ice's Ferry, West Virginia, including "Indian Billy" Ice who was also captured by Mohawk Indians in 1745.
