In 1766 Ahilya Devi Holkar shifted her capital from Indore to Maheshwar. She built Maheshwar fort and many temple in this town. Maheshwar was once the capital of the Maratha Holkar dynasty. It served as the capital during the reign of Ahilya Devi Holkar, who was renowned for her wisdom, administrative skills, and philanthropy. Maheshwar is just 91 km away from Indore. It's a beautiful tourists spot near Indore.
