One of the most amazing rocks I have ever seen is the YOOPERLITE - a syenite rock that is rich in florescent sodalite which reacts with UV light that causes a burning-orange glow effect within the rock.

In this video, the UV lights that I used to help me find my Yooperlites were both the Alonefire and Convoy C8, which have a 365nm (the best wave length) rating.

I hunted for and found my Yooperlites along the southern shores of Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Fun Fact: You can actually find Yooperlites just about anywhere, but they seem to be very abundant around the Great Lakes.

Not only are Yooperlites an amazing rock to go out and find, but they can be pretty valuable as well depending on size, color, and pattern of the sodalite. Needless to say... finding a Yooperlite should be on every Rockhound's bucket list!
