We decided to head up to the Highlands over Christmas, there aren't many campsites open so we would have to wild camp most of the time. The idea was just to use the summer equipment with the addition of a Frontier stove to keep warm, I usually use an Oztent in the winter for the added weather protection but it's not very practical for roadside camping so we left it at home.
We were lucky with the weather in that it didn't rain much so we were able to camp quite comfortably in the cold by layering up and sitting around the stove on the evenings. Things may have been different in wind and rain though, as the awning is a struggle in high winds so shelter then becomes a problem especially when it comes to cooking food etc.
Other than that it was a great few days winter camping, we managed to cook a half decent Christmas dinner and enjoyed some great scenery and a few good walks.
