My name's Pete and I'm the host of the Aussie English Podcast, a podcast dedicated to teaching people Australian English as well as general advanced English.
Many of my students, listeners, and viewers, arrive in Australia, Down Under, with a solid level in English, but they don't speak as naturally and effortlessly as they would like to, just like native English speakers do.
They often ask about the following topics:
Where do I place adverbs in English?
How can I sound like a native speaker with my adverb placement?
Do you have any tips for how to use adverbs in English?
Does adverb placement in English matter that much?
In this video, I give you one big tip for how to sound more like a native English speaker when placing adverbs in English sentences.
Are there any rules for using adverbs in English? - Adverbs are very flexible with regard to where they can be placed in sentences, however, it's not always the same rule for each adverb.
Where can adverbs be placed in English sentences? - Some can be placed at the start or ends of sentences, and others can be before or after the verb they're affecting.
Will native English speakers understand me if I place adverbs in the wrong place? - Fortunately, its not the end of the world if you place an adverb in the "wrong" position, as most times, native English speakers will still understand you 100%.
However, in this video I'm going to show you a quick default position for where to place some of the most common adverbs in English in order to sound a lot more natural, and use the adverb placement that native English speakers would use!
Hopefully, this video helps you sound natural when speaking English and a lot more like an English speaker and Australian and shows you how to do an Australian accent so you can speak English more like us Aussies Down Under!
