LETICIA, COLOMBIA: Travelling to the AMAZON Colombia (THIS was AMAZING)

We travelled from Cartagena to Leticia, Colombia’s Capital of the Amazon. After a very early flight to Bogotá and on to Leticia, we arrived at out hostel and checked out downtown. We sampled the local pizza alternative (made on a base of yucca flour) and were offered the delicacy of maggots in a bowl… we spent some time walking down to the Amazon to see how close we were to Santa Rosa (Peru) and Tabatinga (Brazil), before watching a stunning sunset from a church tower overlooking the local park. This is famous for having tens of thousands of parakeets return from the jungle each day at sunset in a magnificent, deafening display. 2/3/20
