Johannes van Bree (1801-1857) was prolific and of the best Dutch composers of the first half of the 19th century. Sadly a great deal of his output is lost to us due to a fire, but some gems are still waiting to be discovered. This is a new version of a demo of this magnificent overture, probably played at the Dutch national music festival in 1840.
