What is the difference between Poynting MIMO-3-12, 3-15 and 3-17 antennas?

We have been getting a lot of questions about what are the differences between the new Poynting MIMO-3 series antennas. We give a short overview of the features of these 4G aerials to make it easier for you to choose which one you need for your circumstances. All of these antennas are 4G/5G antennas, suitable for use in improving your cellular signal.
The short summary is, that higher numbers do not always mean "better" and more features also don't always mean "better". The best of these 4G MIMO antennas ( MIMO-3-12, MIMO-3-15 and MIMO-3-17 ) is the one that fits your particular needs. The MIMO-3-12

The MIMO-3-V2-12 is an omni-directional antenna for 2G/3G/4G, that you can mount and use in cars, trucks, ships/boats and yacths. It is a 2-in-1 antenna system contained in a single housing. It features a 2x Cellular MIMO antennas for 2G/3G/4G/LTE and the new emerging 5G spectrum for 450MHz and 3.5GHz CBRS bands, which is becoming popular across the various international cellular network operators.

Has two antennas in it and comes with 2 cables (LMR195). So it is a 2 x 2 MIMO antenna. It is the perfect antenna to use on the Nighthawk M5, Nighthawk M2, Nighthawk M1 or any of the Teltonika routers we use at RFShop:

The MIMO 3-15

Has 5 antennas compacted in the same element: 2 x 4G antennas, 2 x Wifi antennas and 1 GPS antenna. It can be connected to your router via the 4G and the WiFi ports and in this case it will broadcast your WiFi all around the outside of your caravan or house. If this is what you need, this antenna or the MIMO-3-14 are the ones to go for. If you just need Wifi inside your caravan or house then the MIMO-3-12 works best.

Has 7 antennas compacted inside. You can connect this to a high level router and get a very solid signal around the outside of your house/caravan, but you may not get a signal inside your house or caravan. This is something to consider.

Another thing to consider with these antennas is, that the box is always the same size but there are 2, 5 or 7 cables coming out of it. To fit the 5 or 7 cables, the cable has to be thinner and that means more signal losses through the cable.
