Part of a MiniDV-to-DVD home video my parents took. Not sure of the year, but possibly 2006/2007.
This was when Glenreagh Mountain Railway was still running trains along a short section of the abandoned Dorrigo Railway Line that branched off the North Coast Line at Glenreagh. Operations of trains would cease in 2008.
NSWGR Z19 Class 1919 (nicknamed "Betty") was restored to operational condition in 2004 after being purchased by the Dorrigo Railway Museum and later transferred to the GMR.
Melbourne W2 Class 392 was leased from the Sydney Tramway Museum and arrived at the GMR in 2005. It was temporarily fitted with a diesel engine and alternator to provide the electrical power needed to run, since no overhead wiring existed at the museum.
After over a decade since trains ran at the GMR, a new group, Tallowood Ventures, was formed in 2022 with the intent to convert much of the Dorrigo line to a rail trail. Most of GMR's assets, including rollingstock and rail corridor, was transferred to the group in 2023. Tallowood Ventures also received a grant to restore NSWGR 1919 once again to operational condition. This restorational work is expected to be complete in 2025.
