Join Dr. JD Corl and Dr. Chris Paprzycki of The Christ Hospital Heart and Vascular Institute, Cincinnati, OH, as they discuss their initial institutional experience with the new Shockwave Javelin Peripheral Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) Catheter.
To kick things off, Dr. Paprzycki reviews the procedural characteristics of the 16 lesions he treated in his first ten patients, followed by Dr. Corl comparing these characteristics to the Forward PAD IDE/Feasibility Studies. Dr. Corl cites the overall success of the Shockwave Javelin, stating the data mirrors a lot of the data from Forward PAD IDE, which had 103 lesions across 90 patients. Dr. Corl then compares angiographic complications between the Christ Hospital experience and the Forward PAD IDE/Feasibility Studies.
Finally, Dr. Corl and Dr. Paprzycki share their thoughts on such topics as how the handling of the new forward IVL catheter compares to balloon-based IVL, the learning curve for Shockwave Javelin, how their algorithm changed as they gained more experience with Shockwave Javelin, and their number one takeaway to optimize procedural success using Shockwave Javelin.
