Increasing the credibility of meta-analysis

Several scientific fields are experiencing a reproducibility crisis, in which hypothesis-driven studies are failing to replicate. Poor reproducibility has been linked to several factors, but some of the most pertinent issues are analytical flexibility and lack of transparency. While these issues are becoming more well-known for primary research, it has received less attention for meta-analysis. In this talk, I present remedies for analytical flexibility, such as pre-registration, and ways to increase the transparency of analyses. Together, reducing analytical flexibility and increasing transparency will improve the credibility of meta-analysis.
