Bucovina ~ WOW!! Golden Eagle Chick SWALLOWS A Huge DEER/HARE Ear! 👂😊 6.5.21

Mom was out hunting again and flies in to the nest carrying a huge animal ear in her beak! It is either a large hare ear or a deer ear -hard to tell but with the deer that has been brought into the nest lately, she may have ripped that off the carcass. Mom presents the ear to her chick and the chick grabs it and tries to swallow but drops it - too big! Mom is right there to tear a few smaller bites off and feed her chick and then present the ear again. The chick swallows the ear in two tenderized parts beginning at 5:32!!

Mom then will work on the deer leg that was brought in to the nest sometime while the cam was offline. That is an adult deer - not the fawn she brought in the other day. She works on tearing off some meat from the leg and then she heads to the other side of the nest and the chick lies down to rest. Eagles are opportunistic hunters and nothing will go to waste. It will be interesting to see what she does with this large leg bone and hoof! Thank you for watching!

This nest is located in a remote area of Bucovina Romania where a pair of Golden Eagles have been nesting and raising their young. The Wild Bucovina Association is a non government and non profit organization that has set up a new webcam recently to observe a rare pair of golden eagles raise their chick. This pair has been observed locally for the past 6 years. Setting up the cam has spooked the male and he has not been back to the nest for the past several days.The female is hunting and taking care of their chick.The male has been seen and photographed flying with the female close to the nest. Due to the sensitive nature of nest disturbance & the consequences involved, caution is advised while viewing this wild golden eagle nest.
