Recorded 11AM October 18th, 2021 @ Well-Read Books in Whitehorse, Yukon
When I used to work at a local bakery (technically I still do, but only for another week or so) I would walk or drive past a used book store every morning. If I had time, I would mess around with the painted piano that sits in the back of the store. I've decided that I will begin recording some of those uninterrupted sessions, regardless of where I work now. You may notice that throughout this series, ideas may linger across many installments; develop and then slowly fade away. Odds are that you will most likely hear many of these ideas fully realized in some of my future releases! I may use established compositions of my own (or others) to transition into different improvised sections, and I will do my best to feel track of these motifs as they grow and take form. While I do admit that I blatantly struggle/force myself through some of the musical corners I may have built myself into, be assured that once I get more comfortable with this format these will gradually become more and more varied and listenable! This is more so a personal challenge to rely less on digital technology to express my musical ideas rather than an intentional listening experience, but I figured it would be good to track my progress either way.

Sorry about the strange noise that pops up a few times throughout the recording. I dropped my portable microphone when I was in Vancouver and it damaged some of the caging around the recording device itself. Based on the timing of the noise, I'm guessing this is some of the loose metal vibrating with certain resonant notes. I'm going to try and fix this issue in later installments!
If you would like to extrapolate from one of my ideas in this video for your own release, please check with me first through Twitter or my discord server. It's probably fine, but I'd just like to keep track of what's fair game for future songs or if I myself am developing the idea already! I strongly encourage using these videos for inspiration of your own!
