England’s Highest Airport: Leeds Bradford Airport is the highest airport in England, sitting at an elevation of 681 feet (208 meters) above sea level, which can make for some unique flying experiences due to its hilly surroundings .

Concorde Landings: On August 2, 1986, an Air France Concorde landed at the airport for the first time, drawing a crowd of approximately 70,000 spectators. The runway was specifically extended to accommodate this supersonic jet, and Concorde charter flights continued until 2000.

World War 2 Aircraft Production: During World War 2, the airport was a key site for military aircraft production. British manufacturer Avro built a massive shadow factory near the airport, producing over 5,500 aircraft, including nearly 700 Lancaster bombers and over 4,500 Avro Ansons. At the time, it was the largest free-standing structure in Europe.
