This piece was written in my late teenage years from 2008-2009. During that time I wrote three piano pieces each exploring different musical histories, sentiments, and compositional peculiarities, each work being quite different from the other. This was the most purely "romantic" piece, and is to this day so many years later still the most ive written. I had and still have a deep love for the romantic period, for Chopin, Liszt and others. This was certainly a conscious tribute to them, without, in regards to certain developments and forms, trying to copy them, that is being more of a general inspiration. Writing those three works, each so uniquely different yet in some ways closely related, showed me just how subtle musical style, expression and meaning is. The smallest changes in the smallest of scales, like the dna of a living body, has profound effects on the larger forms and aesthetics of a work. What unfolds is an infinite expanse of musical possibilities just like the endless possibilities of life itself.
Here are the other two works in question
• Day of the Butterfly
• prelude no.1

Piece 7 (2008-2009)
P.S. I titled it "piece 7" because I am bad with titles and at the time approximated this to likely be the 7th piece I'd ever written
P.P.S. Ive been having trouble with finding a pianist to record some new works but think I have resolved that so hopefully I can resolve that soon! Scores available on my website https://www.andrewtrovato.com/
Thank you!
