I recently purchased this 2003 Turner 74ce grand auditorium. It has a solid sitka spruce top, rosewood back and sides, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, grover tuners, pearl and abalone inlays, a mahogany neck, a 25.5 scale length, a B-Band A3 preamp, and a 45mm nut, which makes it ideal for fingerstyle.
It’s a beautiful guitar, seemingly never played, there are no scratches and no noticeable fret wear. And the tone is lovely, crisp an clear, a well-balanced guitar, and sounds good even with the old strings it came with.
I believe the company, founded by Terry Pack, went out of business, but the website is still up: http://turnerguitars.com/. Terry Pack talks about the Turner project here (1:41): • TERRY PACK GUITARS SJRS and PLRS GUITARS
The neck was perfectly straight, no need for a truss rod adjustment, and the action is very low. There was a small belly behind the bridge, about 1cm, but no sink in front of the bridge. This is normal for a 15 year old guitar. Because of its age, the tone is wide open, clear yet warm.
If you have turner, or experience with a Turner guitar, please write about your experience in the comments.
Thank you.
