Jargony buzzwords are a college students best friend. But do they really help get the point across? “Communicating your expertise (to everybody)” focuses on the important ability of experts and experts-in-training to interact fruitfully with a wide variety of audiences to explain the value of their work.
Dr. Will Gibbons is a musicologist and Associate Professor of Musicology and Associate Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Texas Christian University. He hopes to inspire scholars to learn to communicate their knowledge to a broad audience. Dr. Gibbons is an alum of the Emory & Henry College class of 2003 and received his Ph.D. in Musicology from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in 2010. He is published on topics ranging from Parisian opera culture to video game music, gives frequent presentations across the US and the world, and is the author of a new book arriving later this year on classical music in video games.
