This song is for anyone like me who feels like the world is turning to sh*t right before our eyes. A protest against the hideous politics, inequality, media misinformation, billionaire-oligarchy and the associated rise of far-right racism taking hold in my country (UK), the USA and, around the world.
Inspired by modern day troubadours, particularly Jesse Welles, as well as my musical heroes from Dylan to Dave Matthews.
As I watch my fellow countrymen tying flags to lampposts and painting the St George's cross on roundabouts to intimidate foreign nationals in our diverse community, and seeing the fear it creates amongst some of the best people amongst us, I blame a disgusting billionaire-owned media & cowardly and corrupt politicians for lying to the public that immigrants are the cause of our economic problems.
The real cause is neoliberal capitalism, a bent system that exacerbates inequality and promotes selfishness and avarice instead of a collaborative and caring society.
