President Trump’s Davos speech may go down in history as the day the global order died. His aggressive push for American control of Greenland leading up to the 2026 World Economic Forum had everyone on edge, but it seems to have worked. Trump has since announced a preliminary agreement covering mineral rights, expanded U.S. military access, and the Golden Dome real estate he wanted all along. Woodrow Wilson’s dystopian vision of technocratic global governance became reality over the course of the 20th century, but the heyday of international institutions—NATO, the EU, the UN—has come and gone. Will Trump succeed in untangling this mess?
