Doctor and Wife Fatally Shot at Simi Valley Residence Part 1

SIMI VALLEY, Calif., Dec. 2 (KNN) — A Simi Valley doctor and his wife were the victims of a targeted fatal shooting at their home Sunday afternoon, reported authorities.

According to the Simi Valley Police Department's statement regarding the incident, at approximately 12:03 p.m.on Nov. 30, the department received a report of shots fired in the 500 block of Hawks Bill Place. When officers arrived on the scene, they located two victims with gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

They asked that citizens remain out of the area due to an active investigation, but there is no apparent threat to the public at this time.

According to the Simi Valley Acorn on Monday, Dr. Eric Cordes and his wife, Vicki Cordes, were the victims of the fatal shooting.

They were both transported to nearby Adventist Health Simi Valley Hospital with critical injuries and died the same day. Adventist Health confirmed the identities of the victims.

In a statement from the hospital, according to the Simi Valley Acorn, the Adventist Health Simi Valley community is “heartbroken by the tragic deaths of our longtime colleague, Dr. Eric Cordes, and his wife Vicki.”

According to the hospital, “Dr. Cordes was a highly respected, board-certified radiologist and beloved physician who served this community with compassion and excellence for nearly 30 years.”

The investigation is ongoing.
