The invisible scooter - a drill to coordinate your big toe when walking

This exercise usually comes after the work to activate the big toe muscles - squashing the blu-tack, calf raises onto big toe etc. Not everyone needs to practise this, but I use it when people are struggling to use the big toe all the way to the end of the toenail when they walk - sometimes I see people rocking onto the toe, and then lifting it instead of pushing through. It looks nearly right, but functionally it's not great!
Most people are more comfortable doing this exercise with shoes on, so that you can get that scuffing sound, but it's also completely fine to do it barefoot.
When you practise progressing your invisible scooter into walking, try doing it in a quiet environment so that you can hear the scuff. Try to make sure your feet are scuffing evenly and loudly - the volume of the noise comes from the power you can generate through your big toes!
