We spent 9 nights cruising the USA West Coast on the 19-year-old NCL Jewel, which holds under 2,400 passengers — about half the capacity of the newer Breakaway class ships. While it may not be the most modern, that didn’t stop us from having an amazing time. The Jewel offers plenty of dining options and bars, so you can always find a new spot to grab a drink. With a sports court, casino, and two lovely pools, there’s something for everyone, no matter your age.
So, is it as modern as the newest ships like Royal’s Star of the Seas? No. Is it as kid-focused as Disney cruises? Not exactly. But if it has an itinerary I love, would I sail on it again? Definitely!
