One of the lowest hanging points on a Jeep JK are the rear lower shock mounts—and if you’ve spent any time rock crawling, you know they love to catch every rock in the trail. In this video, I finally tackle that problem on my 2015 Jeep JK with an upgrade from Barnes 4WD.

This walkthrough covers the full process:

Installing the Barnes 4WD rear shock extension brackets, raising the shocks about 2.5" for much-needed clearance.

Cutting and modifying the factory upper shock mounts.

Trimming the lower control arm mounts.

Fabricating and welding on custom skid plates that protect the lower control arms and let you slide over obstacles instead of getting hung up.
