Trace a sewing pattern with Inkscape | Easy and precise

Trace sewing patterns in Inkscape precisely and quickly with Bezier curves. Suitable for raster or vector sources (or even vectorize from paper, if you project Inkscape over the paper), use it for size blending, pattern adjustments, historical sewing patterns and more.
Tracing is rather fast and gets easier with right technique, and that's what I'm showing today.

Important points I may have not mentioned:
start with the corners, and make sure corner nodes are put precisely before you do any curves;
curve by pulling the lines first, start with the gentlest of curves;
if you can't curve the line just by pulling it, select one of the nodes around and pull the handles;
one-two-three rule: if you pulled the line, adjusted the handle of one node, then the other, and it's still not right - stop and add a node;
don't add nodes at the height of the curve, always choose flatter parts around to add two nodes;
if you have a really tight curve, you may need to add four nodes, outlining the tight spot;
with time you will see which curves need more nodes, and will add them at the same time as corners like I do. But I recommend to first start with corners only.

Snapping: all the options under Snapping button are on, except for Tangential, Perpendicular and Alignment.

You can use this for any images, not just patterns; Pen tool is versatile :)
