Fascism originated in the early 20th century and spread across Europe. This dictatorial and racist ideology quickly provoked a strong opposition. Thousands volunteered and died in the Spanish Civil War; or marched and fought against Oswald Mosley's Blackshirts. Today, anti-fascists known as Antifa have been criticised for violent tactics and hypocrisy. How similar are modern day Antifa groups to anti-fascists of the past?
