-Louisville, Kentucky to Dallas, Texas to Phoenix, Arizona
-Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (formerly Standiford Field) to Dallas Love Field Airport to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. SDF is a major hub for UPS (United Parcel Service).
-SDF to DAL to PHX. SDF-DAL-PHX.
Boeing 737-700 and Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Returning home on this day, vacation over. Morning to afternoon to evening. First leg, westbound to Dallas Love. Little Rock, Arkansas area under the clouds. Layover at DAL in between flights. Second leg, back to Phoenix. Due to thunderstorm systems, we took an alternate route/detour: northwest across TX and through New Mexico (between Roswell and Santa Rosa), then passed just south of Albuquerque area, southwest down over the mountains (Tonto National Forest), north of Phoenix area, turned around eastward, passed Downtown PHX. Turbulence (rough air)!
-Inside the gate, taxi to runway, Takeoff (climb & ascent to cruising altitude), flight attendant announcements after surpassing 10,000 feet.
-Snack and drink service, Landing (descent & final approach), touchdown on runway, flight attendant "welcome" announcements, taxi to the gate, parking. Departure and arrival!
-Awesome views [behind the wing, window seat] of: southern Indy/Ohio River and bridges/downtown Louisville/Churchill Downs/Kentucky Kingdom park ALL in the distance, southern Indiana, state of Illinois, Mississippi River (St. Louis far to the north), state of Tennessee, city of Little Rock Arkansas, Arkansas River, state of Oklahoma, Texarkana, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in distance, Abilene, city of Lubbock & airport, fields of wind turbines/windmills, southern end of ABQ and Sandia Mountains, Continental Divide, Gallup, Mount Baldy, Show Low/Payson areas, Roosevelt Lake and Dam & Saguaro Lake, Scottsdale, 101 loop freeway, Camelback Mountain, Mesa area/ASU campus in Tempe/Salt River/South Mountain ALL in distance, Glendale/Peoria/Sun City, Interstate 10 freeway, downtown Phoenix.
-Drove a rental car from and eventually back to SDF.
Over a week off from work, with paid-time-off (PTO). After two years, I returned to Indiana and Kentucky. First, stayed at brother's house up in Lafayette, Indiana. Then, stayed at great aunt's house down in Greenville, Indiana.
-Summary: Loeb Stadium (Baseball & softball. Bronchos & Aviators teams), Arni's Restaurant (Arni's Pizza), Kentucky Kingdom (2 day ticket, roller coasters and water rides), Big Four Railroad Bridge (walk across Ohio River, between Louisville and Jeffersonville), Churchill Downs tour (Kentucky Derby race track, horse racing and betting, museum exhibits), Tumbleweed Southwest Grill.
-Boarding passes & souvenirs (fridge magnets & more)

-Fall 2018: Phoenix to Louisville and Louisville to Phoenix (direct/non-stop flights). Mammoth Cave National Park! Thanksgiving meal with relatives.
-Spring 2019: Phoenix to Las Vegas to Indianapolis and Indianapolis to Las Vegas to Phoenix (multiple legs/flights). Mammoth Caves again, Longhorn Steakhouse, Louisville Slugger (baseball bat factory and MLB museum exhibits)! "Topp't!" handcrafted pizzas, walk across Wabash River (Millenium sundial), Purdue University (Purdue Boilermakers), "Kiss the Bricks" tour and 'Andretti" museum exhibit at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IndyCar race track, Indy 500 & Brickyard 400).
