Our health and well-being in the prenatal-to-3 age period shape all future learning, behavior, and health. Decades of research have shown that babies and toddlers thrive through responsive interactions and stable care, yet many families face substantial challenges. A comprehensive system for infants and toddlers ensures that parents have the needed support, children are born healthy and receive timely assistance, and safe, engaging care is available when children are not with their parents.
This presentation will cover the importance of the prenatal-to-3 period, effective policies to form a system of care for families, the impact of state choices on family wellbeing, an overview of the Louisiana landscape in these policies, and the variation across states in supports available for working families.
