Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa has reacted to reports that NTV Uganda was blocked from accessing Parliament and had its accreditation revoked. During a parliamentary session, Tayebwa emphasized the importance of press freedom, tolerance, and access to information, saying media houses must be allowed to cover parliamentary proceedings as “this is the people’s house.”
He promised to investigate the issue and review the accreditation process, calling the development “news to me” and stressing that alternative views, even uncomfortable ones, deserve space in a democracy.
