Considering my passion for demonology, the occult, and horror films, I decided to discuss a topic that presents both my academic and life long study and experience with Occult and Esoteric practices with the symbolically layered visual art of Horror that has a demonic theme.
I have a unique situation regarding the vast knowledge of both subjects so it seems natural to discuss the polarizing symbolism in films such as the Exorcist (1973). PAZUZU is the focus of this video, including the Mesopotamian origins of three deified particular rulers in the Bronze Age city--state of Mari in upper Mesopotamia; the connections via etymology, purpose (and activities) of THREE specific Demon Kings with Pazuzu directly uniting the other two as one interesting triad of chaotic hell!
Pazuzu, Bagdana, and Asmodeus are discussed concerning magical and esoteric recordings (such as the so-called Aramaic Incantation Bowls) and that each holds the epithets that proclaim them as "King of the Lil-Demons". Pazuzu in the Exorcist is a malignant spirit that enjoys a short stay in a living body, until finding conflict with two irritating Priests.
Horror fiction should not be graded on it's occult authenticity, that would be problematic at best and restrain the visionary filmmaker from doing his or her will in creating their art. What is good is when there are subtle authenticity within the demonic character of the fiction and depiction, with a juxtaposition of the obscure academic and archeological magical and religious texts that unveil the scope of the King of Lil-Demons (Wind Spirits), PAZUZU.
