Sequential discovery puzzle cabinet that I built in 2019 based on a nineteenth century apothecary. Built primarily of poplar, the cabinet contains a majority of my puzzle boxes and Hanayama cast metal puzzle collection. In order to access them a sequence of steps is followed with tools hidden along the way. The cabinet also features four paintings which make up a separate puzzle.
The puzzle components of this cabinet were completely my design and creation, coming from many years experience as a Furniture conservator working on 18th and 19th century furniture many of which contain secret compartments, drawers and hidden mechanisms. However I was inspired by many other furniture makers including but not limited to: Silas Kopf, Craig Thibodeau, Abraham and David Roentgen, Mike Pekovich and many craftspeople from the past that unfortunately we do not know and are hoping to learn about.
