If nothing else, this video shows the dramatic difference between partial and total eclipse - it's essentially throwing a switch. Corona OFF - Corona ON - Corona OFF.
I didn't see the chromosphere at all in 2017; here it was naked eye visible throughout totality. Electric Pink Tongues.
I couldn't get a clear focus on the 96% covered sun, but was able to get a good focus on the cloud layer - I thought they would be close enough - they were not.
Video was shot on the roof of a condo on the Mazatlan strip. The crowd 150 feet below adds a lot of ambiance.
Due to the cloud layer (I think the temperature drop due to the penumbra condenses some water during the eclipse), the totality sky lacked stars and the corona wasn't fully visible.
But the chromosphere was "the star" of the show. We had great clear views of it naked eye, though binoculars, and through a telescope, leaving left a permanent mental imprint.
