One of my favorite jazz ballads. This was written in 1937, by Rodgers and Hart, for a musical entitled "Babes in Arms". Gerry Mulligan and Chet baker did this in 1953, and it became associated with Chet Baker as one of his signature songs. That version was even inducted into the Library of Congress. I always felt that Billy Joel must have been thinking of this song when he wrote, Just the way You are. It has a similar sentiment. My Funny Valentine, a beautiful love song. You might not be the prettiest, or the smartest, but someone can still love you with all their heart. Thanks for stopping by, sorry for the long winded description. New stuff here every Friday. Background is from Yasuhiro Fujii. Kind regards to all, J. X..
