The Geul is a 58 km long river that flows from eastern Belgium into the southern Netherlands, winding through the hilly Limburg region. It originates near Lichtenbusch and eventually joins the Meuse River near Meerssen. The Geul is known for its fast flow, natural beauty, and historical watermills. It supports rich biodiversity and is popular for walking and cycling. However, it's also prone to flooding during heavy rainfall, as seen in the major floods of July 2021.
