As the title indicates, this work is inspired by the vast plains and all the history they hold: payadores (folk singers), knife fighters, gauchos, horse-drawn carts traveling along the dusty roads—all these memories I have of seeing them when I was a kid,
back in the 1920s and 30s…
And the melodic line is a recollection of popular themes from those times, still relevant today in the pampas…

[Bar 3] It comes naturally to me to quickly arpeg the notes B♭ and G
with my thumb (4th and 5th strings).
[Bar 15] Slide between strings 2 and 5: finger 3 (2nd string, note D) slides to the 4th fret,
from where finger 2 goes smoothly on the C# note.
[Bar 16] Typical two-finger strum (1 and 2) on the same fret (6).
[Bar 18] The mini-bar strum should be understood as follows: finger 4 plays the note D with a bow;
it follows the playing of the notes A and F (3rd and 4th strings) and then lowers to cover the notes G and D.
[Bar 24] Slide between strings 1 and 5: finger 1 slides to the 8th fret, where it slides to the 5th string (note F).
[Bar 81-82] Slide between strings 1 and 2: finger 4 slides back to the 4th fret,
where it moves down one string and lands on the note D.
