Celebrating their 50th anniversary this year are the legendary Happiness Emporium! Such a legacy and longevity with this particular quartet and what a great privilege we get to look forward to experiencing with them performing for their 50th on this year's AIC Show! While we're all anxiously awaiting for that, here's their full 1979 AIC Show set for you as an appetizer!
This was a particularly special set for them with the 1979 International Convention being held right in their hometown of Minneapolis, and as such, they brought back their iconic contest piece where the lyrics had never been more accurate! Following that chart is the beautiful Sleeping Child and of course the conclusion of their set with Bob Dowma's beloved arrangement of My Lady Loves to Dance.
I've always primarily known Happiness Emporium by their alter egos, Good News! and their amazing work in gospel music which was a strong influence on me growing up, and got to know their amazing regular barbershop work as well. What's your favorite Happiness Emporium song and/or memory? Hope you all enjoy this set, long live the Happiness Emporium!
It's Good to Know I'm Welcome (Back In My Hometown); arr. SPEBSQSA
Sleeping Child; arr. Mac Huff
My Lady Loves to Dance; arr. Bob Dowma
