"On the sunny side of the street". McHugh. As envisaged by my talented friend James Gwynne. No.1/9.
"On the Sunny Side of the Street" is a 1930 song composed by Jimmy McHugh with lyrics by Dorothy Fields. Some authors say Fats Waller was the composer, but that he sold the rights to the song. It was introduced in the Broadway musical---Lew Leslie's "International Revue" starring Harry Richman and Gertrude Lawrence.
Steinway Model D (No.104793), the frame of which was laid down and cast in 1898 in Hamburg, was originally delivered to the Winter Gardens, Bournemouth in 1901, where it lived for over 100 years and was played on by all the "Greats". It has been sympathetically restored, incorporating all the original strings, except one. The action is totally original and only refurbished where necessary. The case has been repaired, stripped to bare wood and re-French polished in the traditional way. Hopefully, the scene is now set for the next hundred years and beyond.......................
The building is a converted estate barn formerly owned by Jane Austen's family and originally erected in 1449.
